Almost daily, I receive e-mails from many of you asking to be inspired with simple and cost-effective ideas for your upcoming nuptial celebrations, from beautiful bouquets, pew decorations, and ethnic inspired themes to keeping your bridesmaids happy and choosing the perfect colors for your wedding. But lately, I've gotten more than a few e-mails asking for ideas on simple ways to imbue your weddings with that incomparable feeling of "springness".

If a springtime wedding is in your future, then our "Welcome Spring" article would surely be of interest to you. Additional really simple ideas can be incorporated as well, without much fuss or expertise. Here are just a few of my favorite embellishing ideas that positively exude spring!

Find The Perfect Color Combination!

We all know that finding the perfect color combination is no easy task. There are, however, color combinations that can evoke the feeling of spring no matter what the season, subject to the constraints of your reception and/or ceremony venue, of course. If color theory completely overwhelms you, simply go to your favorite department store when their Spring products arrive. Look at their advertisements, window displays, and in-store decorations. These stores pay handsomely for designers to come up with the perfect color combinations to make you feel like you are in a spring wonderland, so you can feel safe to be inspired by their color choices.

Of course, sages, pinks, yellows, and other pastel colors are closely associated with spring and are always a safe bet. I also have my own favorite color combinations which include aqua blues and other muted colors. The right combination should give your guests a feeling of "freshness" and fun. The three color swatch combinations above are my ultimate favorites for a spring fling!

Using The Right Flowers!

There is nothing more delightful during a spring soirée than having it decorated with the season's favorite florals. Various assortments of tulips, irises, freesia, purple asters, daffodils, fragrant hyacinths, and more. Although the spring season may limit your flower choices somewhat, the affordability of the flowers available outweighs the limited variety. Of course, if you are working with a professional floral designer, your floral choices will increase dramatically, no matter the season. Working with a professional also cuts down on costly mistakes that can easily crop up and make your wedding budget suffer a lot more in the long run.

Incorporating centerpieces created from flowering trees and shrubs can be stunning as well. Spring willows, dogwoods, Bradford pears, and magnolias are all suitable for unique and sophisticated designs. Last but not least, don't forget to add a little splash of green with grass. Whether you are going for the minimalist look with rectangular grass centerpieces, or simply to accent vibrant floral centerpieces, you'll love its visual effect.

Have Some Fun!

Don't forget to fire up your imagination when designing your spring fling. Thinking about other fun spring elements, such as its holidays (Easter, Passover, Mother's Day), can also endlessly widen your possibilities. Placesettings and favors are clever areas for adding a little creativity. For example, using decorated Easter egg candles as guest favors and placesettings is not only a delightful and festive way of decorating your event, but a gracious way of thanking your guests for attending. Spring brings us not only flowers, but also insects; the below placesetting shows off a vibrant gerbera daisy with a colorful gold "bee" placesetting. Your imagination can be an integral part of your wedding design... just let it loose!
